Around Here: the creative addition

Somehow it’s September, somehow we’re making it work. School is back in & I am in full Christmas card creation mode. I started ordering holiday product back in the spring and before I knew it boxes were showing up and taking over my space. I love Christmas card season but sometimes it’s hard to mentally prep yourself to make Christmas cards in July & August when all you want to do is be outside enjoying the sun. I also find that people either love or hate the early holiday creatives and they’re fairly vocal about it, but I am here for it and that’s what’s important.

Christmas Wishes Card Collection

This card collection & the cutesy one below were my classes for the Creative ScrapbookerGreat Canadian Scrapbook Carnival” in Calgary, AB this past weekend. It was my first event since you know what hit us back in 2020. I thought it might be strange but it wasn’t at all, in fact it felt nice to do normal things and get back out there.

This card collection features one of my favorite things to embellish with at the holidays… cardinals! These particular die cuts were created by Simply Stated Design, a new company sold exclusively at Treasured Memories here in Edmonton & in their online shop.

Product Used: Tim Holtz “Christmas” 8×8 paper pad, Simply Stated Design die cuts, sentiment chipboard from Idea-ology/Tim Holtz, small black bag from Michaels, vellum, Scalloped Stitched Nesting Dies in Rectangle & Circle from Tutti Designs & cardstock.

Not a Creature Was Stirring Card Collection

These cards were designed using the Not a Creature Was Stirring collection from Photo Play. I love the bright, non traditional colors of this line, and a mouse wearing a sweater is fairly fabulous as well. One of my favorite elements on this card are the “hanging” embellishments. I turned stickers into ornaments and I hung the mistletoe for Mr & Mrs Claus to smooch.

Product used: Photo Play pattern paper & stickers, Scalloped Stitched Nesting Dies in Rectangle & Circle from Tutti Designs, Poinsettia embossing folder from Tim Holtz/Sizzix, Snowflake embossing folder from Echo Park, red pearls from Studio Katia, embroidery floss, ribbon, vellum & cardstock.

I have plenty more projects to share and I’m committed to being present here in this space. Connection is so important and this space offers so much more room to share. It’s likely I have enough creative work to post every day but I won’t make any promises I know I can not keep.

Take Care & Thank you for being here!

♥ Nadine

  1. Wow these are such great card samples and the papers and designs are really awesome! Gets me in the mood to create. One of the things I love the most about your creations is the way you layer your papers. So unexpected to actually see them as die cut circles or rectangles and how they are mixed and matched to perfection. Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring!
