Card Inspiration: Coffee & Friends

Let’s make a card together. Easel cards are a fun way to display your work and send a sweet gesture. This card was designed using the Just A Splash collection from Simply Stated Design, with the Quirky Ladies as my focal ephemera on the page. I love these ladies so much, they look frazzled & fabulous all at the same time! ♥

You will need:

  • Cardstock: 11.5″ x 5.75″, fold in half for a 5.75″ x 5.75″ card base.
  • 2 Pattern Paper @ 5.5″ x 5.5″, cut in half diagonally. *you can use 1 pattern paper here and use both halves instead of cutting up 2 pattern papers.
  • 1 pattern paper @ 5.5″ x 5.5″.
  • Embellishments and a sentiment.

To Make The Card (Use the photos as a guide for assembly.):

  • Using the card base, you are going to score and fold just the cover on the diagonal. *See photo. This fold allows the cover of the card to “stand up”, creating the easel.
  • Add your 2 triangle pattern papers to the cover of the card base.
  • Add your whole pattern paper to the inside.
  • Add your various ephemera and embellishments. You will need to use 3D foam on one of your inside ephemera to create a stopping point/holding point for the cover when it is folded in the upright position. In my card, the circle is popped and the cover sits against that when open and stops the cover from falling down.
  • Tip: be sure not to add adhesive to any ephemera that sits over the fold line on the cover. For example, on my card- the top of the tag is free of adhesive. If it had adhesive, it wouldn’t allow the cover to stand.
  • Tip: use a nail file or other sanding tool to sand the edges of papers and ephemera to reveal the white core and create a border around your piece. See the tag and circle on my card. That little white border allows the piece to stand out against the background paper.

  1. Nadine, thank you for sharing clear, easy-to-follow details to create this card style. So very eye-catching. The three versions, using different paper/ephemera lines, are pure delights. Of course, now I want all those collections! You’re wonderfully inspiring!
